City of Dacula Breaks Ground on Dacula City Core to Create Central Community Hub

Dacula, GA – July 25, 2025

The City of Dacula proudly announces the groundbreaking of the long-awaited Dacula City Core– a project aimed to fulfill a shared community vision of creating a vibrant, central gathering place the Dacula residents can truly call their own.

Dacula City Core represents a bold vision for the future of Dacula. This major investment includes a new municipal complex, an open-air amphitheater designed for live events and performances, a multifunctional greenspace for recreation and community use, and a 298-space public parking deck to improve accessibility. The project is designed to bring new life to the center of our city.

This project came to life thanks to the dedication of our partners. The City is proud to recognize and sincerely thank our residents, Gwinnett County, and the dedicated professionals who helped shape every stage of this project: Bowen & Watson – Contractor, LPB & Associates – Architect, Bowman Consulting Group Ltd. – Engineer, and Precision Planning Inc. – Concept Planner.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the project site along McMillian Road. Attendees heard remarks from Mayor Trey King and Phillip Saxton, a founding member of the Dacula Business Association.

“Today is about more than just a groundbreaking ceremony. Today is about beginning a new chapter for our city. By honoring our past and preparing for our future, we breathe new life into the heart of our community. This amazing project is a commitment to make our community a vibrant place where our shared history, businesses, and everyday life come together to create something we can all be proud of to call home." – Mayor King
