GA Power Upgrading Street Lights to LED
Starting in July, Georgia Power will begin upgrading street lights within the city to energy-efficient LED technology. The project is expected to take 2–4 months to complete.
This upgrade brings a range of benefits to the community. LED lights use over 50% less energy than traditional fixtures, reducing both utility costs and carbon emissions. They provide brighter, more uniform illumination that enhances visibility and safety for drivers and pedestrians. LEDs also last significantly longer, maintain their brightness over time, and turn on instantly without a warm-up period. Additionally, they reduce light pollution by focusing light downward, helping preserve the night sky and minimizing light spill into nearby homes.
