Does anyone know which businesses will be represented at the Taste of Dacula on Monday, 2/8?

I don't, but it would be nice to see some information about this "community event" on the City Of Dacula "Community" Network website.  Does that seem logical to anyone besides me?

Well, yeah.  Would be logical.  But then again, it's not Hebron sponsored, so.....

Well, I'm not a guru or anything, but when I googled "Taste of Dacula," here's a link I found.  Guess I should have done this first instead of posting my question here.

So how does this work? Do we pay the $10 and get to walk around to the booths trying the different foods, or do we pay $10 for an entry fee then have to pay more at each restaurant's booth?

The $10.00 includes all your food and a bottled water. You will be given a card with all the participating vendors listed and as you try their food they mark your card.  Trust me, you will not be able to eat from every vendor, its way to much food

Also, Fatsos is owned by the former owner of Diggers

oh wow.... thanks.... It's been a while since we have been to Diggers.... But since Fatso's is owned by previous Diggers owners maybe we will have to try that soon...

I love the remark and the fact that nothing has been done to actually promote this event on the main page. I think you hit upon something!

Nothing was done for the Dacula Baseball registration either, but Hebron's notice has been up there for almost 2 weeks now (even though it "shows" 2/1).

Hopefully there's a good turnout.

Did any of these other groups try to promote their event on this site? Are there any other anouncements to replace Hebron's event?

You can buy tickets at the door if you do have some already. This event sells out quick so come early. Pay one price $10.00 and eat from over 30 different vendors. 1 bottle of water is included but there will be other drinks available for a small fee. There will also be a shuttle from the softball field parking lot just down from the school. This is put on by the Dacula Band Boosters. Come eat, enjoy and support your community school. ThanksGo to Top of Page

So it's been a week. Can anybody report on this event? How was it attended? How was the food? Did you learn anything about the places around town? Did the "chains" win out? I tried to get the new owner of the Subway at Fence to participate, but it was too late and he had other plans. He said it would have been nice to know about the event so apparently this area wasn't covered or asked to participate.

I'll chime in here.  I paid the price and was happy to support my son's school.  My intention was to meet as many restaurant owner's in Dacula as I could thinking that I had them all in one place at the same time.  I am in sales with a supplier to the food service industry. The place was mobbed. When you walked in the school, you were given a badge which you wore around your neck.  The badge had the names of all of the participating restaurants.  The idea is that as you make your way around, a volunteer at each station crosses off the name of the restaurant you are sampling. While I only sampled one station (I had a sweater on and the place was packed....people were sweating big time!  Not fun when your eating food), I watched the crowd.  My overall impression was that, while it is a great idea, the venue was perhaps not quite right.  Outside under a large tent would have been better.  The heating and cooling systems in the school are controlled remotely by computer at Gwinnett County School HQ, so they had no way to turn on the AC and cool the place down.  Very uncomfortable.  Also, because of the crowds, the lines were very long at most stations and people were a little cranky.  Aren't we all when we are hungry? I love the concept, but think with a little more planning, it could really be a great event.  One last comment, I was a little dissapointed that more restaurants did not participate.  When the school cafeteria is one of the participants as well as Publix...it cheapens the event.  Seriously....school lunches are notorious, always were, always will be. Just my two cents.  Go Falcons!

It seems to me that Aggie was there to try and sell something as opposed to enjoy the comunity event. I have been for the last 4 years and do not know of another place in Dacula that can provide seating for this function. Do you really want to have this outside in February, last year it was cold and raining, that would have been a great turnout. As far as the school cafetria participating, its a chance for you to see what they offer, my son is in college now and claims the DHS cafeteria served the best pizza.

Aggie, i am not trying to pick on you, just commenting on your post. There is always room for improvement in these types of events and I am sure the DECA club would love to hear any of your suggestions.

As far as the Subway by the Publix on Fence Rd participating, why would we want two Subways, the one half mile from the school was already participating
